In an interview with The Verge, Zuckerberg acknowledged the potential of blockchain technology, the underlying technology behind Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. However, he expressed concerns about the volatility and regulatory challenges associated with crypto.
“I think there’s a lot of potential in blockchain technology, but I’m still trying to learn more about it,” Zuckerberg said. “I think the volatility of cryptocurrency is a concern, and I think the regulatory environment is still unclear.”
Zuckerberg’s comments come amidst heightened scrutiny of cryptocurrency by regulators around the world. In recent months, several governments have cracked down on cryptocurrency exchanges and initial coin offerings (ICOs), citing concerns about fraud and market manipulation.
