Zuckerberg Hospital Accepts Bitcoin Donations in Collaboration with Crypto Charity Platform
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have announced that the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG) will begin accepting Bitcoin donations. This initiative is part of a collaboration with The Giving Block, a leading crypto charity platform.
The hospital will receive donations in the form of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and over 70 other cryptocurrencies through the Giving Block’s platform. The donations will be converted into US dollars and used to support the hospital’s critical programs, including:
* Providing essential medical care to underserved communities
* Funding innovative research and clinical trials
* Supporting patient education and community outreach
“We are thrilled to partner with The Giving Block to make it easier for our supporters to donate to ZSFG in a way that is convenient and secure,” said David Klein, CEO of Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital Foundation. “Cryptocurrency has the potential to revolutionize philanthropy, and we believe this collaboration will allow us to reach a wider audience and raise more funds for our mission.”
The Giving Block has been working with nonprofits and educational institutions to promote cryptocurrency donations for nearly a decade. The platform provides secure and transparent donation processing, allowing donors to track their transactions and view the impact of their contributions.
“The addition of ZSFG to our growing network of partners is a testament to the increasing acceptance and adoption of cryptocurrency in the charitable sector,” said Alex Wilson, CEO of The Giving Block. “We are proud to support organizations like ZSFG that are embracing innovation to advance their missions and make a meaningful difference in the world.”
Donors can make Bitcoin donations to ZSFG through the Giving Block website or by scanning a QR code. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
